Holy Week full of good messages and great options in the wonderful city of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro. At first, a tip for this high vibratory wave of Easter is the play “Entre Franciscos – O Santo e o Papa”, written by Gabriel Chalita and directed by Fernando Philbert, continues until April 7th at Teatro Domingos Oliveira, at Planetário da Gávea (Rua Vice-Governador Rúbens Berardo, 100 – Gávea). The show offers an imaginary meeting between Pope Francis and Saint Francis of Assisi, located in the Vatican laundry room, and invites the public to reflect on contemporary human issues. The work explores the humanity and sensitivity of these two emblematic figures and features the excellent Paulo Gorgulho and César Mello in the main roles. Sessions on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the official box office or via the website Imply.com, priced at R$60 (full price) and R$30 (half price).

Furthermore, in its last week of performances, the group Asavessa from Rio Grande do Norte brings to Sesc Tijuca (R. Barão de Mesquita, 539) a unique and very fun theatrical experience with “Julieta Mais Romeu”. This playful adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic text into popular language and with elements of northeastern regionality enchants with great grace and spontaneity. Reliving the story of the famous couple, a universal symbol of love, the performances take place from Thursday to Friday, at 7pm, and Sunday, at 6pm.

São Jorge in cinemas in April

And, now in April (what other month would it be, right?), a film premieres that has been generating expectations in the journalist who writes to you: “Jorge da Cappadocia”. Directed, produced and starring by Alexandre Machafer, it hits theaters on April 18th and distributed by Paris Filmes. The film tells the story of Saint George, highlighting his family conflicts, his journey of faith and the challenges faced during the rule of Emperor Diocletian. From what I learned, we will see the warrior’s struggle to reconcile his faith with the emperor’s cruel orders, while he becomes a figure of resistance and courage. On top of that, the story was turned into a book: “Jorge of Cappadocia: behind the scenes of the first film about the warrior saint”, written by Alexandre Machafer and Crib Tanaka. The cast also features other big names such as Cyria Coentro, Roberto Bomtempo, Ricardo Soares and Miriam Freeland.

CasaShopping launches the free course “CASA BRASIL: Past, present and future” as part of Casa Knowledge, covering the essence of the Brazilian house and its distinctive interior design and furniture. With limited places and reservation required by calling 995652053, the course will take place from April 1st to 12th, with different sessions covering topics such as bioclimatism, sustainability, popular and contemporary art, as well as future trends in Brazilian architecture. Organized by famous professionals in the field, the event aims to both update those who work in the sector and offer accessible knowledge to architecture and design enthusiasts.
