Series about criminal factions in Rio is a bet for streaming |

The streaming platform Globoplay plans to launch one of its biggest bets of the season in the week of June 24th: the series ‘O Jogo Que Mudou a História’, created by José Júnior and directed by Heitor Dhalia, with production by Afroreggae and Paranoid. The title has been asking for passage for some time now and the reason for the delay is unknown.

Despite the debut definition for a year of Olympic Games, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Zero relationship. ‘The Game’ in question will talk about football, yes, but as part of a chaotic scenario in a prison in Rio de Janeiro.

The 10-episode work is inspired by facts and set during the 1970s and 1980s, portraying the beginning of the organization of Rio’s criminal factions and how a football match influenced the outbreak of a war that lasted 25 years. During history, the birth of the first major drug trafficking faction, at the end of the 1970s.

‘The Game that Changed History’, according to the directors, was set in 18 favelas and communities, and the majority of black and northeastern actors made up the cast.

The production promises to be an intense dive for those who want to get to know Rio from another perspective, that of the favelas. There are three communities that inspire the plot: Vigário Geral, Parada de Lucas and Morro do Juramento. However, it all starts in a prison in Ilha Grande, a scene of torture and violence.

A difference
The series ‘The Queen of Persia’, being recorded for Record, will have an important difference, if the comparison is with the epic film ‘300’, starring Gerard Buttler and Rodrigo Santoro. In fact, it’s more like an absence!

To the facts
The new Brazilian TV production will feature Carlo Porto as Xerxes and Dudu Pelizzari as the warrior Leônidas. However, there will be no Queen Gorgo in the series, played by Lena Headey in the films. As can be seen, the powerful queen here will be Hadassa/Ester, played by Nathalia Florentino.

Independence
Ariane Rocha, actress and dancer, 30 years of career, is currently part of the cast of the series ‘Até Onde Ela Vai’, on UniverVideo, in the role of a nurse, and praises the moment of TV and streaming, which are prioritizing the contract model per work. “I see the contract for work as positive. I recently participated in ‘Vicky e a Musa’ (Globoplay series written by Rosane Svartman) and now I’m on streaming. Actors also need to produce themselves and create their own projects”, declares the artist.
