Temu is yet another Chinese e-commerce company, but one that promises to stand out and, in fact, is already standing out around the world. The platform is a kind of Shein with Shopee and focuses on everything from selling clothes to electronics and furniture.

The new e-commerce was launched in 2022 in the United States and then in the United Kingdom and is now taking hold in several countries.

Its success is so evident that a retail expert even said that Temu is “Amazon on steroids”. And if you think he exaggerated his comment, it’s because you haven’t seen the reach numbers for this platform’s app yet.

Since its emergence, Temu has topped global app download charts, with nearly 152 million Americans using the platform every month, according to data collected by analytics tool SimilarWeb.

The company’s marketing simply invested in six 30-second commercials during one of the biggest American events, the Super Bowl. To give you an idea, each Super Bowl commercial costs around US$7 million, the equivalent of R$35 million. Furthermore, Temu advertisements carry a somewhat controversial slogan “buy like a billionaire”, which further fueled the platform’s popularity.

Another investment by the company is aimed at micromarketing, which takes place through influencers who promote Temu products, by suggesting purchases on the platform through social networks.

The platform also invests in a data collection strategy, where they collect information on consumer trends, the most searched and clicked products, and then provide this data to individual manufacturers, which further boosts their sales.

When does Temu arrive in Brazil?

With products at low prices, the Chinese company, which already earns more than rivals in the United States, generates expectations for its arrival in Brazil. Even more so because it promises to beat the value of shopping products from our beloved Shein and Shopee.

The promise is that Temu will officially arrive on the Brazilian market in the first half of 2024. So, get ready to download the app and shop like a billionaire, filling your cart on the platform!
