Mato Grosso do Sul is one of the 14 states contemplated with the construction and maintenance of power transmission lines in an auction by Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency) to define the companies that will be responsible for the 6.4 thousand kilometers of lines planned. The forecast is that R$18.2 billion will be invested in 69 projects, generating 34.9 thousand direct jobs.

In addition from MS, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Tocantins will benefit. According to Aneelof the 15 proposed lots, six have planned investments of more than R$1 billion.

Mato Grosso do Sul was lot 11 and the bidder was Consórcio Paraná IV, from Guide Investimentos. The total to be invested in the works is R$221.7 million.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the average auction discount was 40.78%, which represents savings for the consumer of R$30.1 billion, according to the agency. The term for commercial operation of the projects varies from 36 to 72 months, for concessions lasting 30 years, counting from the signing of the contracts.

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, celebrated the result of the auction. “We are working to transform the electricity sector into economic and social development, ensuring more energy security and opportunities for our population. We are strengthening our system to drain all the renewable energy generated in our country,” he said on social media.

The MME’s National Secretary for Energy Transition and Planning, Thiago Barral, explained that the works contracted today are part of previous auctions and, possibly, subsequent auctions that will be carried out by Aneel. “This infrastructure aims to meet the Brazilian load growth scenario at the lowest cost, using the competitiveness of renewables for this purpose.”

According to Aneel’s general director, Sandoval Feitosa, all the participants who won have a history of good services provided. “Associated with diligent supervision by Aneel, they will contribute to the delivery of the works within the scheduled deadline. In 2024, we will reach the historic generation mark of 200 GW and we need transmission to transport all this production. For this reason, compliance with contracts is essential,” he highlighted.
