In an effort to democratize access to art and break down geographical barriers, the UBU Theater Group will bring free theater to one of the regions of the State that always appears in violence rates: the southern border region. After winning hearts on the outskirts of Campo Grande, the troupe now leaves with the right itinerary, heading to the cities of Bela Vista, Ponta Porã, Laguna Carapã, Aral Moreira, Amambai, Coronel Sapucaia, Paranhos, Tacuru and Rio Brilhante, where art often is scarce and theaters are rare.

There, the UBU Group will remain for almost ten days with theatrical performances for children and adults, from April 29th to May 7th and for another 9 days with workshops for teachers from May 8th to 16th.

On Monday, April 29th, the troupe, made up of 7 artists, arrives in the southern border region. “These will be intense days in which we will start work in the morning, always with the presentation of the show ‘Pelega e a Porca Prenha’, followed by the first part of the workshops with the teachers and, in the evening, we present the second chosen piece, ‘A Girl from the City’”, details the director of UBU and creator of the project, Anderson Bosh.

Bela Vista will be the first city to welcome the artists, on April 29th, Monday. Next, it will be Ponta Porã (April 30th/Tuesday), Laguna Carapã (May 1st/Wednesday), Aral Moreira (2nd/Thursday), Amambai (3rd/Friday), Coronel Sapucaia (4th/Saturday), Paranhos (5th/Sunday), Tacuru (6th/Monday) and Rio Brilhante (7th/Tuesday).

A Girl in the City

“Uma Moça da Cidade” is, above all, an ode to love and an important mechanism for critical reflection on human relations in times of hate speech and intolerance from its own leaders, as well as an environment for denouncing and investigating the universe of exclusion to which the “northeast-south-mato-grossense” people were subjected. Furthermore, the show brings to light the strength that desire and love have in the lives of the subjects, emerging reflections on how such feelings are capable of changing our reality.

Pelega and Pregnant Sow

“Pelega and Porca Prenha – Episode: Na Mata do Pequi”, tells the fantastic adventure of the country brothers: Pelega and Porca Prenha; who become involved in an intrigue in the Pequi forest, between Boca de Sapo, Curupira and Pisadeira, characters from Brazilian popular culture (folklore).
