Police officer arrested for attacking couple in Domingos Martins, ES

A military police officer was caught attacking a black man and woman in Domingos Martins, in the Serrana region of Espírito Santo, this Wednesday morning (27). The scene was recorded by a resident and shared on social media. According to the police, the professional, whose name was not disclosed, was removed from his duties and the corporation will investigate the complaint, after analyzing the images of the attack.

In the images it is possible to see the man and the woman sitting on a staircase in the Domingos Martins Center and the military police officer standing in front of her shouting “Say it again”.

The woman then asks “Why are you going to hit me?” and also explains that she lives in Greater Vitória and not within the neighborhood. The policeman then tells her to shut up, slaps her in the face and says: “No one grows up here, no” and also asks “Do you understand?”

At another point in the video, the boy gets up and the military police officer goes after him, punches him in the stomach and pushes him down the stairs. After falling and sitting down, the man gets up again and the police officer tells him to sit down. After being pushed again by the police officer on the stairs, the man says he is not doing anything, asks the professional to check his criminal record and also asks:

“You hit me already and I didn’t do anything.”

It is still possible to hear the man say that he will report the police officer to the Public Ministry of Espírito Santo (MPES). The woman also adds, saying that the police officer is corrupt, a liar, and stating that the approach was filmed. After that, the police officer pushes the boy again, punches, kicks and even does a “naked choke” attack. Another agent arrives and the police handcuff and detain the man, who tries to defend himself by saying that he did nothing to get arrested.

When asked about the case, the Military Police reported that, after analyzing the complaint and the images presented, they preventively removed the agent from his duties. He also guaranteed that the case will be duly investigated by the corporation’s Internal Affairs Department.

“The government emphasizes that it does not condone violence committed by public officials of any nature, whether outside or, especially, while performing their duties. All appropriate measures relating to the incident will be taken,” the corporation stated in a statement.
