The Secretariat of Culture of the State of Bahia (SecultBa) announced this Monday (1st) that the 2024 Book Biennial, which will be held between April 26th and May 1st, will feature more than 200 exhibiting brands, and more than 170 authors, personalities and artists who will produce more than 100 hours of content for all audiences, and will bring together important names in national and international literature between April 26th and May 1st, at the Salvador Convention Center.

According to information from SecultBa, at the launch of the official program of the 2024 Biennale, the general director of the Pedro Calmon Foundation (FPC/SecultBa), Vladimir Pinheiro, highlighted the support of the Government of Bahia to guarantee the presence of the State Education Network in event.

“The Biennial mobilizes the whole of Bahia, and our expectation is that we will have approximately eight thousand students participating in the event. We are talking to guarantee the book voucher, so that students, teachers, librarians, are not only present, but have access to books, because we understand the importance of the Biennale as a major literary event in our state”, emphasized Pinheiro.

The expectation of the event organizers is to receive even more readers and writers, surpassing last year’s mark of 90 thousand visitors, 20 thousand of which in a single day. In other words, the meeting promises to be one of the largest in the cultural literature sector in Brazil.

With the theme “The Stories that Bahia Tells”, the Biennale will feature the presence of at least one Bahian participant in all panels, debate tables and other activities, be it an author, a personality or a mediator. The Biennale will have three different spaces for the official cultural program: Café Literário, Arena Jovem and Espaço Infantil. Tickets cost between R$30 (full) and R$15 (half), and can be purchased online.

The Bahia Book Biennial is presented by the Government of the State of Bahia and the Municipality of Salvador. It also counts on sponsorship from Itaú and BIC, support from Salvador Shopping and Rede Bahia, in addition to institutional support from the Book Editors Union (Snel). It is carried out and organized by the Ministry of Culture (MinC), and GL events Exhibitions.
