President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) decided to present French President Emmanuel Macron, at the end of his three-day visit to Brazil, with cheeses from different parts of the country, including award-winning products from Minas Gerais.

“I presented President Emmanuel Macron with five of the best and most awarded Brazilian cheeses, including those recognized in France, so he can tell me what he thought of them. From Minas Gerais: Serjão Canastra, from Piumhi, Goa Moderado from Aiuruoca, Maranata Bronze from Virgínia, and Lua Cheia from the city of Bueno Brandão, as well as Queijo from Ilha de Marajó, in Pará, and Cuesta, from Pardinho, São Paulo. And also a sparkling wine from Serra Gaúcha. I think he’ll like it”, wrote the PT member on his social networks this Thursday (28/3).

Serjão Canastra cheese comes from producer Sérgio de Paula Alves, from Piumhí, in Serra da Canastra, and is one of the most awarded.

Lula also handed over the Minas Gerais cheeses GOA Moderado, Maranata Bronze and Lua Cheia to the Frenchman.

It was in the land of Macron, in 2015, that Minas Gerais cheeses began their victorious journey in the cheese world. During the second edition of the Tours Cheese World Cup, Capim Canastra and Catauá cheeses were entered and one of them won the silver medal.

Two years later, in the third edition, producers from Minas Gerais won 12 medals, one being super gold for Senzala de Sacramento cheese.
