The Government of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, through the RN Water Management Institute (Igarn), monitors the main reservoirs responsible for supplying and meeting the various usage needs of municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte. The Report on the Volumes of the Main Reservoirs of RN, released this Thursday (28), indicates that the Marechal Dutra dam, known as Gargalheiras, accumulates 16,428,067 m³, percentage, 36.98% of its total capacity, which is 44,421,480 m³. This is already the largest accumulation of water in the spring in the last 12 years.

According to Igarn, the Cruzeta public dam accumulates 11,391,701 m³, corresponding to 48.38% of its total capacity, which is 23,545,745 m³, which also represents the largest water reserve in the source, in the month of March, since 2012, when it presented an accumulated 58.51% of its capacity on March 28th.

The Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves dam, the largest source in RN, accumulates 1,454,869,247 m³, equivalent to 61.3% of its total capacity, which is 2,373,066,000 m³. In the same period last year, the reservoir had 1.286 billion m³, corresponding to 54.20% of its total capacity.

According to Igarn, the Santa Cruz do Apodi dam accumulates 377,678,200 m³, percentage, 62.97% of its total capacity, which is 599,712,000 m³. In the same period last year, the reservoir accumulated 266,835,315 m³, corresponding to 44.49% of its total capacity.

The reservoirs monitored by Igarn, which remain at 100% of their capacity, are: Campo Grande, in São Paulo do Potengi; Pataxó, in Ipanguaçu; Dourado, in Currais Novos; Passagem, in Rodolfo Fernandes; Beldroega, in Paraú; the Encanto public reservoir. The Santa Cruz do Trairi dam, located in Santa Cruz, which was already bleeding in March, has once again reached 100% of its capacity.
