EPR Sul de Minas, responsible for MG-290, MG-146, MG-173 and BR-459, alert to the presence of pilgrims walking towards Aparecida do Norte
The special operation has been in action since Wednesday (27), set up by the concessionaire responsible for highways in the south of Minas Gerais, due to the extended Holy Week holiday.
By Easter Sunday (31), the concessionaire expects around 150,000 vehicles to circulate on the highways. The largest concentration is expected for BR-459 and MG-173, a highway that provides access to the coast of São Paulo and the city of Aparecida do Norte (SP).
In addition to the increase in flow on the highways, the concessionaire also warns of the presence of pilgrims walking towards Aparecida do Norte (SP) at this time of year. The route known as “Caminho da Fé” passes through sections managed by EPR such as Inconfidentes (MG), Borda da Mata (MG), Ouro Fino (MG) and Paraisópolis (MG). This route has an average annual flow of 20 thousand travelers and is usually heavily traveled during Holy Week.
“We are prepared to welcome all visitors who wish to pass through the southern stretches of Minas Gerais, but it is worth highlighting that keeping vehicle maintenance up to date contributes to a smooth and safe journey.“, explains executive director, Érica Kawatake.
During the special operation, works that require closures on sections will be suspended. User service will also be intensified, with extra teams and operational resources.

24 hour service
