Deputies approve nine public hearings to evaluate energy supply services in Rio Grande do Sul

The Permanent Joint Commission for Consumer and Taxpayer Defense and Popular Legislative Participation of the Legislative Assembly, meeting this Wednesday (27), approved nine requests for public hearings, eight of which have as their theme the evaluation of the quality of services provided by CEEE Equatorial and the persistence of energy distribution problems, and one to debate the performance of the concessionaires responsible for supplying electricity and the actions taken to deal with damage caused by successive climatic events. The meeting was led by deputy Dr. Thiago Duarte (União).

Representative Laura Sito (PT) is the author of five requests for public hearings. They are scheduled to take place in a location that has not yet been defined in the regions of the Porto Alegre Islands and in the South, East and North zones of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. She also requests that the topic be debated in the municipality of Torres.

Deputy Miguel Rossetto (PT) is the proponent of two other requests with the same theme. However, they are indicated to occur in the municipalities of Encruzilhada do Sul and Terra de Areia, dealing with the same problem in the municipalities of Três Forquilhas, Itati and Maquiné.

The municipality of Candiota will receive a hearing, as proposed by deputy Luiz Fernando Mainardi (PT).

The deputies also approved, on the initiative of deputy Guilherme Pasin (PP), the holding of a public hearing to discuss the performance of the concessionaires responsible for supplying electricity in Rio Grande do Sul and the actions taken to address the damage caused by successive climatic events, especially what happened on January 16, 2024.

After the vote, President Dr. Thiago Duarte informed that he will forward the parliamentarians’ decision to hold the hearings to the future Special Commission that should deal with the matter, to be chaired by deputy Edivilson Brum (MDB).

The meeting was attended by deputies Airton Artus (PDT), Cláudio Tatsch (PL), Delegate Zucco (Republicans), Dr. Thiago Duarte (Union), president, Edivilson Brum (MDB), Joel Wilhelm (PP), Miguel Rossetto (PT) and Valdeci Oliveira (PT).
