Andes-SN (National Union of Teachers of Higher Education Institutions) announced a teachers’ strike starting on April 15th. The unions are also organizing a strike for Wednesday (3).

The mobilization demands salary recovery and the restructuring of the teaching career, in addition to protesting against the precariousness of working conditions. The strike was approved by the Ifes Sector (Federal Educational Institutions) of the union in a meeting with representatives of 37 union sections.
A new round of assemblies takes place from Tuesday (26) until April 9 to organize the movement and discuss the agenda.
Then, another meeting of the Ifes Sector is scheduled for April 10th, with 72 hours to inform the government and rectors about the start of a strike from the 15th.
The movement covers teachers from federal universities, federal institutes and Cefets (Federal Centers for Technological Education). If the strike is confirmed, teachers can join technical-administrative education employees, who have been on strike since March 11.
Will UFSC professors go on strike?
In an extraordinary general meeting on Wednesday (27), professors at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina) decided to join the strike on April 3rd. The category showed solidarity with the movement of civil servants, who are also protesting for the restructuring of their careers.

Teachers at IFSC (Federal Institute of Santa Catarina) will also stop work for 24 hours on that date. In an assembly, the teaching category must decide whether or not to join the national mobilization that begins on April 15th.
