Rio – Agents from several battalions in the city carried out operations in almost 10 communities in the North Zone this Thursday morning (28). According to the Military Police, the actions aim to prevent the movement of criminals responsible for territorial disputes and repress gangs specialized in vehicle theft. So far, in addition to the weapons and drugs seized, five men have been arrested.

In Quintino, police officers from the 9th BPM (Rocha Miranda), with support from the Special Rescue and Rescue Actions Group (Gesar), carry out an operation in the Caixa D’Água, Saçu and Lemos de Brito communities. At the scene, five criminals were arrested in the act with a rifle, two pistols, five radio transmitters and a large quantity of drugs.

In the Sampaio neighborhood, teams from the Pacification Police Unit (UPP) and the Tactical Intervention Group (GIT) carry out an action in the São João, Matriz and Quieto communities. So far, there is no information about arrests, seizures or clashes.

In Piedade, the 3rd BPM (Méier) is in the community of Dezoito. On social media, residents reported moments of tension. “Gunshots at Morro do 18. Caveirão is at my door. Bullet flying steadily,” wrote one man. “Intense confrontation between drug traffickers and military police,” said another.

In Costa Barros, the 41st BPM (College) is in Complexo da Pedreira. According to the PM, three suspects shot at the police and there was a confrontation, but the men fled. A backpack with drugs and two grenades were found at the scene. During the action, according to the corporation, the teams received news about a man shot who was admitted to the Ronaldo Gazolla Municipal Hospital. There is still no information about his health status.

Still in Complexo da Pedreira, in the Lagartixa community, the agents decided to approach a man “in a suspicious attitude”, but he fled. After searching the region, a pistol was found and taken to the 39th DP (Pavuna).

When contacted, the Municipal Health Department (SMS) informed that the Edney Canazarro de Oliveira Family Clinic, in Sampaio, continues to provide services to the population, but external activities have been suspended, due to operations in the region.
