A 21-year-old young man was arrested this Thursday (28), in Vitória, suspected of using a fake profile on the social network X (formerly Twitter), to threaten civil and criminal police officers who participated in the arrest of drug dealer Fernando Moraes Pereira Pimenta, Sailor — considered the most wanted criminal in the history of Espírito Santo. The suspect was detained in an action carried out by the Coordination of Special Operations and Resources (Core) with support from the Undersecretariat of State for Intelligence (SEI). The neighborhood in which he was detained was not disclosed.

According to the Civil Police, the individual also posted threats aimed at prosecution witnesses in the cases in which Marujo is a defendant. More details about this investigation will only be released on Thursday afternoon, at a press conference called by the corporation. The text will be updated when new information is provided.

Marujo’s arrest

  • Wanted in Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, where he remained hidden last year, Fernando Moraes Pimenta, the 31-year-old Sailor, was arrested on March 8, in the Bonfim neighborhood, in Vitória. He was onnumber one on the list of most wanted by the Espírito Santo policehad been on the run since 2017 and has an extensive criminal record.
  • According to the Civil Police, Marujo was the head of drug trafficking in the neighborhood of Penha and Bonfim, in the Capital. He responded directly to the top leadership of the First Command of Vitória (PCV)a faction that commands the region and extends to several neighborhoods — not only in Greater Vitória but in the interior of the state.
  • When he was found by the police, Marujo had outstanding arrest warrants for various crimes: qualified homicide, drug trafficking, association with drug trafficking, criminal organization and corruption of minors.
  • Marujo was found hiding in a kind of bunker, also in his father’s house. The hiding place had technology to open and close the space, where it kept an oxygen cylinder to help with his breathing while he was in this location. He always remained armed with a rifle. Marujo rarely left the region between Bonfim and Bairro da Penha. The trafficker understood that the bunker was a safe place.
  • According to the general delegate of the Civil Police of Espírito Santo, José Darcy Arruda, there were four months of prison planning.
  • As reported by columnist Vilmara Fernandes, from The Gazette, after the arrest of Fernando Moraes Pereira Pimenta, the state court decided that he should be detained in a cell with stricter rules, individual, with control over visits and monitoring of interviews. With the decision, he was included in the Differentiated Disciplinary Regime (RDD), system similar to that applied in federal units.
