Civil Registry Statistics show that the number of births and deaths in Tocantins has decreased. In 2022, the last year researched, there were 22,126 births, 4.3% less than in 2021. As for deaths, the reduction is even greater, with 9,038 cases and a drop of 17.8% compared to the previous year.
The data was released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Wednesday (27). State data follows the decline across Brazil. In 2021 data, there were 23,117 births and 11 thousand deaths.
According to IBGE, between 2018 and 2021, which experienced the Covid-19 pandemic in the last two years of the period, the number of births remained practically stable. Look:

The research also pointed out the average age of mothers and according to the numbers, women are having children later. In 2022, 50.3% of births are to mothers aged between 20 and 29 years old. Furthermore, 15.5% were under 20 years old, a drop compared to 2010, which was 23% of cases.
In the range between 30 and 39 years old there was an increase. In 2022 there were 29.7% of mothers and in 2010, 18.7% of cases. The increase was also recorded for mothers between 40 and 44 years old, from 1.3% to 3% in the years mentioned.
In the largest municipalities, 5,850 births were registered in Palmas; 3,582 in Araguaína and 1,302 in Gurupi.
Brazil recorded 2.54 million births, a reduction of 3.4% compared to 2021. The decline occurs for the fourth consecutive year in the country, according to IBGE.
In civil registration data, the number of deaths in 2022 did not exceed the previous year – 9,038 against 11 thousand, but there was an increase of 19.2% in relation to 2019, which recorded 7,577 deaths.
In Palmas, statistics showed that in 2022 there were 1,498 deaths, in Araguaína there were 1,116 and in Gurupi, 528.
Nationally, in 2022 the Civil Registration Statistics indicated 1.52 million deaths.
