After two days of debates, the 5th State Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation of Amazonas (CT&I) formulated public policy proposals that will be presented at the regional conference, in April, and national, in June this year. The event was promoted by the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), and ended with a plenary session this Wednesday (27/03), with discussions aimed at promoting the scientific development in the Amazonian scenario.

According to the executive secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation, Jeibi Medeiros, the proposals were produced from debates held in groups on thematic axes and seek to meet the demands and desires of the area. The plenary aimed to raise what was debated on the first day and promote productive discussions with the participation of the community.

“This is our mission: to build a more sustainable Amazon, in search of the development and inclusion of all our potential. The axes were the key tool for building the preliminary diagnosis and the strategic map to guide future investments. Let’s go together now for the new challenge that is our regional conference”, declared Jeibi.

According to Medeiros, discussions on Public Policies and Investments addressed strategies for developing more effective and attractive policies, capable of boosting investment in science, technology and innovation, in addition to promoting strategic partnerships between the public and private sector. “Firstly, the results discussed at the municipal conferences in Manaus, Maués, Parintins, Tefé, Coari, Itacoatiara, Tabatinga, Benjamin Constant and Atalaia do Norte were presented. The next steps will be the regional stage of the conference, which will be hosted in Amazonas in April”.

The 5th National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (CNCTI), which takes place from the 4th to the 6th of June, in Brasília, with the theme “A fair, sustainable and developed Brazil”, has a consultative nature and seeks to discuss with society the needs sector and propose recommendations for the development of a new National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy (ENCTI) that should be followed over the next few years (2024-2030).

Also present at the event were the professor at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), the director of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC), Dr. Marilene Corrêa, the researcher at the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA), Dr. George Henrique, Science and Technology (S&T) analyst, Dr. Deuza Santos, professor at the State University of Amazonas (UEA), Dr. Deolinda Garcia, the Educational Designer at the Amazonas Technological Education Center (CETAM), Wanderlene Gurgel, the Director of Science, Technology and Innovation of the National Association of Postgraduate Students (ANPG), Priscila Duarte, the representative of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-AM), Aldo Evangelista.
