Two more deaths from dengue were confirmed in cities in the north of Santa Catarina. The victims are residents of Garuva and São Francisco do Sul. In total, the state of Santa Catarina has 45 deaths in 2024.

In Garuva, the victim is a 77-year-old man with comorbidities. He lived in the city center. This is the first death from dengue in the municipality this year.

The other victim is a 68-year-old man, resident of Ervino, in São Francisco do Sul. He has no history of illness and was admitted to a public hospital in Joinville. In addition to him, another man, aged 35, had already died from the disease in the municipality this year.

According to the latest Santa Catarina government Monitoring Panel, there are 89.5 thousand probable cases of dengue, of which 27.8 thousand are confirmed. The city with the most deaths is Joinville, with 14.
