State schools offer professional education, train professionals and open paths to college

-

With 199 REE (State Education Network) schools in Mato Grosso do Sul offering professional education, the students themselves point out the benefits of attending high school and professional education simultaneously. For them, it is an advantage and a “time saver”, as they have already finished their third year with a profession, prepared for the world of work, even those who intend to continue studying and are already thinking about college.

Although vocational education students complete high school already with a profession, with the conditions to work in the areas in which they became professional, students have the objective of entering Higher Education. This is the case of Lara Kemily Bernardirno Romeiro, 17 years old, a student at Escola Estadual Hercules Maymone, who intends to study Nutrition.

For the student, the adaptation at the beginning was a little complicated, since she completed the first year of regular high school and only started Professional Education from the second year onwards. From Monday to Wednesday, Lara only takes regular subjects, and the professional course takes place in the last two periods on Thursday. On Friday the day is all about Professional Education.

“At first it was a little confusing to reconcile the two, as I did the first year without a professional course, so it took me a while to adapt. But now it’s very calm”, explains Lara.

The student studied Marketing Analyst in 2023 and is currently pursuing the continuation, called Innovation Project. The student, who is a communication enthusiast, found a way to use the knowledge acquired in Professional Education and use it in her future profession.

“I want to study Nutrition and specialize in sports nutrition. The knowledge I acquired in professional education I will use to create my company’s brand, to operate on social media”, concludes Lara.
