District deputy Eduardo Pedrosa (Union) participated in the 13th International Down Syndrome Day Conference, held at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York. The event brought together experts, leaders and advocates for the rights of people with Down syndrome from around the world to discuss fundamental issues related to the inclusion and well-being of these individuals.

During the Conference, the deputy had the opportunity to speak with the Brazilian ambassador to the UN, where they discussed the situation and the specific needs of the Federal District in relation to the community of people with Down syndrome. Eduardo highlighted the importance of further internationalizing the debate on defending the rights of people with Down syndrome, aiming to seek better experiences and practices for Brazil. He made a commitment to the ambassador to work together in this regard.

Furthermore, Pedrosa participated in the launch of the book by the writer, influencer and podcaster, Vitória Mesquita. The 25-year-old’s book has significantly impacted the internet by approaching the topic in an innovative and inspiring way. As responsible for the district policy to support people with Down Syndrome, adopted based on his initiative project, Pedrosa also spoke about CrisDown and its institutionalization, highlighting his commitment to defending rights and promoting people’s inclusion. with Down syndrome.

Representing the Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Rights and Care of People with Down Syndrome, the deputy wants to strengthen the agenda of promotion, inclusion and guaranteeing the rights of people with disabilities. According to him, the conference at the UN is a unique opportunity to share experiences and seek to improve the actions of the Legislative Branch aimed at developing the protagonism, dignity and self-esteem of people with Down syndrome.
