IHS Brasil completes DAS installation at Santa Catarina airport

-

IHS Brasil, part of the IHS Holding Limited group, one of the world’s independent owners, operators and developers of shared communications infrastructure in number of towers, has completed the installation of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) at Navegantes Airport (SC), one of the 17 airports managed by CCR Aeroportos in Brazil. The DAS will also be operated by IHS Brasil.

DAS provides a connectivity solution suitable for large indoor environments and outdoor areas of airports, subway stations, shopping centers, hospitals and corporate buildings where there are physical barriers to signal propagation, such as concrete walls and metal structures. A set of strategically placed indoor antennas connected by fiber optic cables help to further expand and improve network coverage, while terrestrial antennas are designed to transmit the 5G signal more effectively to achieve maximum speed and low latency. This solution offers high data transfer capacity that also supports the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine devices, including equipment automation, security devices and card machines.

Further improving the telecommunications infrastructure is an essential innovation to increase connectivity and the quality of this service, promoting more comfort and the best experiences for our passengers

Cassio Futuro, Commercial and Operations Director at IHS Brasil, states: “We are proud to help facilitate better connectivity at Brazilian airports, offering mobile operators high-quality infrastructure that will benefit passengers who travel daily to these terminals. By providing DAS infrastructure, we are contributing to a better user experience and helping to increase the operational efficiency of each airport.”

Monique Henriques, Executive Retail Manager at CCR Aeroportos, informs: “One of CCR Aeroportos’ first steps when taking over the administration of its airports, in March 2022, was to increase the speed of free internet access by 10 times through Wi-Fi. -Fi. Further improving the telecommunications infrastructure is an essential innovation to increase connectivity and the quality of this service, promoting more comfort and the best experiences for our passengers”.
