At least 19 cities in Rio Grande do Norte had more divorces than weddings throughout 2022, according to data from the Civil Records Survey, released this Wednesday (27) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). (See the list of cities below).
The biggest difference recorded was in the city of Pendências, which had 39 more divorces than marriages – 63 compared to 24. São Paulo do Potengi was close behind, with 31 more separations than marriages.
The city in Rio Grande do Norte that had the highest number of divorces in 2022 was Mossoró, with 676. The municipality, however, registered a greater number of marriages (1,225) and, therefore, is not included in the list below.
The same situation occurred in Parnamirim, the second city with the highest absolute number of divorces in RN, with 571.
The capital Natal had 179 divorces, according to the research, a number also below the 3,250 marriages – the highest absolute number in the state.
