In a note, Correios reported that, after identifying suspicious actions by outsourced workers, they called security agencies to investigate possible responsibilities. The company also said that it is monitoring the case to take administrative measures and that it prioritizes investments in tools to combat this type of occurrence.

⚠️For those waiting for correspondence, The Post Office’s guidance is to monitor the status of deliveries using the tracking system available on the website or app. In case of theft or loss, the customer must request an investigation, registering a complaint through the company’s service channels and follow the procedures for compensation.

For the PF, the damage to Correios ends up extending to the entire population.

“Who pays this bill? Firstly, there is reimbursement from the Post Office and, of course, with an impact on the loss to the Union’s treasury. In other words, all citizens end up paying for this marginality”, says delegate Marcio Teixeira.

The gang’s preferred route was between Joinville (SC) and Porto Alegre. The stretch is the main route for purchases sent to RS from the center of the country. The PF discovered that the group diverted electronic devicessuch as computers, cell phones and notebooks, and even items like Cuban cigars.

The gang had help from drivers from outsourced companies. Drivers received money to make it easier for criminals to remove the desired products and then place a false seal on the trucks, in an attempt to prevent the crime from being discovered.

“The driver, in reality, is co-opted to facilitate the criminals’ attack. He is co-opted to stop the truck at the agreed location, to make it easier to move away from the load, leaving the criminals to act in the trunk to exchange the seal and effective subtraction”, says PF delegate Marcio Teixeira.

  • Destruction of evidence

The stolen goods were sold on websites and social media. As soon as they became suspicious of the investigation, the criminals began destroying possible evidence, according to the PF.
