Tender notice for the outsourcing of Blumenau Airport (SC) is being finalized by the city hall

The City of Blumenau, in Santa Catarina, through the Municipal Department of Traffic and Transport (SMTT), is in the final phase of preparing the bidding notice for outsourcing the management of the airport, aiming to bring in specialized teams to manage both the administrative aspects as operational.

With a series of significant improvements already underway and others scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024, the city is heading towards a new level in its airport infrastructure. “We are the third largest city in the State and our region has the highest GDP in Santa Catarina. We need an airport and we deserve a structure that also definitively serves commercial flights. The step we are taking is towards this. More economy, mobility and tourism for the entire Valley will be provided with the outsourcing and operation of Quero-Quero Airport”, highlights Mayor Mário Hildebrandt.

Among the main improvements in progress are the perimeter fencing, the asphalt requalification of the runway and the implementation of night marking, all of which are expected to be completed this year.

SMTT secretary, Alexandro Fernandes, recalls that Cia Azul’s first experimental flights, connecting Blumenau to cities like Curitiba and São Paulo, took place during the last Oktoberfest. “These flights marked the beginning of an ongoing development process for the airport, which is now poised to reach new horizons.”, he celebrates.

Furthermore, with new management, the company that wins the bidding process will manage a series of benefits that are being structured for the airport and the community. These improvements include facilities for executive aviation, a Fire Department with greater structure and safety to operate, the possibility of transporting organs with 24-hour availability for health purposes and a renewed focus on commercial aviation.

“Blumenau already has a vocation for regional flights and Blumenau Regional Airport is prepared to provide a high quality airport experience and contribute to the economic and social development of the region”, concludes the secretary. The bidding is expected to be launched by July.

Paving

The last stage of paving at Blumenau Regional Airport is scheduled to begin this Tuesday, the 26th. The revitalization of the aerodrome runway is an old demand of the municipality and region.

According to the Municipal Department of Works (Semob), there is a protocol established by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) to be followed, which provides for a rite of permissions established by the entity. With the authorization granted by Anac, flights to the airport are suspended for at least 15 days, to carry out the paving stage.

The investment to revitalize the Regional Airport runway is R$ 7,751,141.73, in partnership with the State Government. The municipality’s contribution to the work is R$ 751,141.73.
