Single-lane federal highways in Tocantins will have restrictions on freight vehicle traffic during the long weekend. The measure is part of the actions that will be carried out by the Federal Highway Police during Operation Semana Santa 2024.
The operation begins at midnight this Thursday (28) and continues until 11:59 pm this Sunday (31).
During this period, policing will be reinforced on federal highways with the aim of reducing serious accidents and combating crime. Traffic education activities will also be carried out for drivers.
The traffic of some cargo vehicles will be restricted on all single-lane federal highways in Tocantins. They are: BRs 010, 153, 226, 230, 235 and 242.
According to the PRF, vehicles or combinations of vehicles whose weight and dimensions exceed any of the following limits will be prohibited from traveling at certain times:
- 2.6 meters wide;
- 4.4 meters high;
- 19.8 meters in total length;
- 58.5 tons of Total Gross Combined Weight (PBTC).
The measure also applies to those who have a special transit authorization (AET) or specific authorization (AE).
The restriction will be on the following days and times:
- Thursday (28) – 4pm to 10pm
- Friday (29) – 6am to 12pm
- Sunday (31) – 4pm to 10pm
The PRF also issued recommendations for drivers, given the rainy season in the state:
- Check your brakes, wipers and headlights to improve visibility;
- Check that the tires are well maintained;
- Reduce speed and increase the distance from the vehicle in front;
- And don’t forget to use the arrow in advance;
- And pay attention to pedestrians in the lanes;
- When it rains, you need to be careful, drive carefully;
