Holy Week: Public Defender’s Office operates on-call from this Wednesday

From this Wednesday (27th), until March 31st, the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Alagoas (DPE/AL) will operate on duty due to Holy Week. The Institution will remain open to handle extremely urgent cases in civil and criminal areas, which require immediate assessment by the Judiciary.

In Maceió, the civil service will take place from 8 am to 1:30 pm, at the Institution’s headquarters, located on Avenida Fernandes Lima, Gruta de Lourdes neighborhood, close to Equatorial Energia. Criminal duty officers will work in the locations designated for custody hearings, if face-to-face hearings take place.

In other municipalities, the Public Defender’s Office will maintain criminal duty, with public defenders participating in custody hearings.

Urgent cases are considered urgent situations that require prompt assessment by the Judiciary, such as search and seizure of minors, demands related to the right to health, protective measures in cases of domestic and family violence, permits for the release of bodies, analysis of arrests in the act , among others.

All Public Defender’s service units will return to normal as of April 1, 2024.
