Operation Tinder: women are arrested for extortion and robbery after meetings in SC
The Civil Police arrested three women and one man this Tuesday (26) in an action against a group investigated for extort and rob men after arranging meetings through a dating app with the aim of committing crimes. Named “Tinder“, the operation takes place in cities in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
At least three men were victims of criminals in December 2023. In one of the cases, the group stole R$10,000 from the account of a 52-year-old man, in addition to taking the victim’s luxury car, worth R$70,000. The prisoners are between 20 and 28 years old.
In addition to the temporary arrests, 10 search and seizure warrants were executed in Florianópolis, Palhoça and Cachoeira do Sul (RS). The investigation continues, seeking to qualify other membersaccording to delegate Diego Azevedo.
The Civil Police began the investigation after the 52-year-old man, victim of the group, reported that he had arranged a meeting using an app with a woman in the Contorno Viário region, in Palhoça, at the end of 2023.
Upon arriving at the agreed location, he was approached by three armed people, who kept him inside his own vehicle, a Land Rover.
They forced him to make bank transfers using his cell phone and a card machine. According to the delegate, the device belonged to a company associated with one of those involved in the crime.
After the robbery, the group abandoned the victim in an isolated area of the city, taking the man’s vehicle, cell phone and cash. Later, those investigated continued to demand more money to return the car.
This morning’s action has the support of the Specialized Police Stations of the State Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Deic) and the 20th Regional Police Station of Cachoeira do Sul.
