In all, 104 kg of skunk were found inside the tires of a truck that was traveling at km 979 of BR-230, in Uruará, southwest of Pará.

According to the PRF, which confirmed the case this Tuesday (23), the vehicle, which had a semi-trailer, was traveling from Manaus (AM) to Altamira, also in the southwest of Pará.

The agents reported that the driver, 39 years old, from Amazonas, was visibly nervous when explaining the itinerary.

“He reported that he had trailered the semi-trailer in Santarém (PA) and that the load should be delivered to a construction materials store in Altamira, but he was unable to specify the address, increasing the police officers’ suspicions”, detailed the PRF.

Officers noticed that one of the truck’s axles was raised. Therefore, according to the corporation, the driver took the vehicle to a tire repair shop for a more detailed inspection.

“During the journey, the driver bogged down the truck and simulated a mechanical failure, behavior that raised suspicions even further. A thorough inspection revealed that, under the raised axle, 99 tablets of a substance analogous to skunk were hidden, totaling 104 kg” , added the agents.

Passage by the police and drug trafficking

According to the PRF, the driver had already been arrested by the corporation on March 18, 2024, in Brasil Novo, also in PA, due to an open arrest warrant issued by the 2nd Criminal Execution Court of the District of Manaus , for crimes of theft, tampering with a motor vehicle identification sign and document forgery.

Furthermore, the police pointed out that he is being investigated for his participation in a drug trafficking case, where the PRF seized 447 kg of drugs hidden in a truck, also in Altamira, on the same day.

“After his arrest in March, the Amazonas court granted him provisional release with the condition of electronic monitoring on March 23, 2024. However, he was not using the monitoring device, which violates the conditions of his provisional release “, commented the corporation.

Given the facts, the driver was arrested again and taken to the Altamira Federal Police station, where legal proceedings were initiated for drug trafficking.

The police confirmed that the amount of drugs seized represents an estimated loss of R$3 million for organized crime.
