We brought you a list of the best titles since 1963!

Anime has become one of the most relevant animation genres in the world and its popularity only increases every year. We can find several productions since the 1960s or even before, and, if we want to look for the best anime of each year – which is exactly the objective of this text -, there are a good number of titles to evaluate.

Making this list is not easy (because, of course, it is very subjective) but the ratings and popularity on sites like MyAnimeList indicate the public’s biggest favorites. And starting in 2016, we took into account the winners of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where both specialized critics and fans decide the highlight of each year.

As a starting point, in 1963, it is impossible not to mention Astro Boywhich changed the way anime was made forever: it was no longer necessarily educational content, it laid the foundations for modern titles and opened the doors to various Japanese animations around the world – and our list of the best of each year since 1963 can be seen below:
