Eleven people were arrested this Monday (25) for involvement in drug trafficking in Santa Catarina. According to the Civil Police, among them is one of the biggest marijuana traffickers today, operating in Blumenau and the region.

The arrests were carried out during Operation “Al Capone”, which carried out 13 preventive arrest warrants, 10 search and seizure warrants, in addition to the blocking and kidnapping of valuables arising from drug trafficking, in the cities of Blumenau, Balneário Piçarras, Barra Velha, in Santa Catarina, as well as in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná.

According to the Civil Police, investigations intensified in 2022. Since then, at least 10 people have been arrested for possession of drugs.

In January 2023, civil police officers from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Blumenau seized 340 kilos of marijuana in the cities of Barra Velha and Blumenau. After that, they managed to identify the person mainly responsible for distributing the drug, and the investigation focused on confirming his participation in drug trafficking.

The arrest of another drug dealer, in November 2023, who stored, fractionated and sold the drug, was decisive in confirming the identity of one of the biggest marijuana traffickers today, operating in Blumenau and the region. It is estimated that he moved more than 3 tons of marijuana during the investigation period.

During the investigation, the Blumenau DIC seized more than 500 kilos of marijuana.

Given the facts, it was represented by preventive arrest, search and seizure and blocking and kidnapping of valuables and assets. In the city of Foz do Iguaçu, a firearm, as well as 57.3 kilos of marijuana were seized. Two vehicles and a motorcycle were also seized.

According to the Civil Police, the street value of the seized drugs could reach R$3 million. Finally, the eleven prisoners were sent to prison and will now be at the disposal of the Judiciary.
