The industrial activity as a whole was responsible for the opening of 2,252 formal jobs in Mato Grosso do Sul in January, the result of 9,231 hirings and 6,979 dismissals, according to a survey by Fiems Industrial Radar. With this result, industrial activity as a whole was responsible for 45% of the total number of vacancies opened in Mato Grosso do Sul in the first month of the year.

According to the chief economist at Fiems, Ezequiel Resende, the industrial activities that created the most vacancies in January: infrastructure works (+554), specialized facilities and services for construction (+413), construction of buildings (+333), cattle slaughter (+116), poultry slaughter (+81), iron ore extraction (+64), tanning and other leather preparations (+48), installation of industrial machinery and equipment (+42) and manufacturing of meat products (+40).

In relation to the municipalities, in January, it appears that in 44 of them industrial activities registered a positive hiring balance, opening up 2,476 vacancies.

Among the cities with a positive balance, the following stand out: Campo Grande (+685), Ribas do Rio pardo (+362), Nova Andradina (+205), Dourados (+182), Corumbá (+147), Aparecida do Taboado ( +87), Três Lagoas (+79), Rio Brilhante (+62), Aquidauana (+59), Maracaju (+56), Sidrolândia (+48), Paranaíba (+47), Eldorado (+45) and São Gabriel of the West (+45).

On the other hand, in another 27 municipalities, industrial activities recorded a negative balance, resulting in the closure of 224 vacancies. Among the cities with a negative balance, the following stand out: Água Clara (-35), Fátima do Sul (-31), Chapadão do Sul (-25) and Caarapó (-24).

“The set of industrial activities in Mato Grosso do Sul ended January 2024 with a total of 158,078 workers employed. Indicating, so far, an increase of 1.45% compared to the end of the previous year, when the contingent stood at 155,826 employees”, explained Ezequiel Resende.

Still according to the economist, industrial activity accounts for 24% of all formal employment (CLT) in Mato Grosso do Sul, behind the Services segment, which employs 257,550 workers with a participation equivalent to 39%.
