03/26/2024 – The Amazonas tourism trade gathered for the Conexão Embratur workshop, held in the state capital, Manaus, on the 19th. Aimed at preparing the tourism sectors of Brazilian states to promote their destinations abroad, the event focused on data intelligence and in the numbers that the Agency makes available to guide the actions of governments and companies, and optimize the dissemination of tourist destinations.

Another point discussed was the importance of the region, in the heart of the Amazon, adapting practices to become more sustainable. Nature and Special Segments Supervisor at Embratur, Rafaela Lehmann highlighted that those present will take the information to tourism professionals who did not participate in the event, multiplying the information.

“The meeting provided exchanges on the need to develop tourist activity in a sustainable way, as a positioning strategy for the state, as well as the importance of using data intelligence to improve the experience of international tourists in Amazonian destinations”, he highlighted Lehmann.

Also participating in the meeting, held at SebraeLab, was Embratur’s Intelligence supervisor, Cristiano Borges, and Amazonas’ Sebrae analyst, Fabio Souza.

For Souza, the workshop helps to spark the interest of businesspeople in improving the training of professionals who work in receiving international tourists. “Sebrae Amazonas wants to prepare small businesses to welcome international tourists, not just in services, but in terms of management and training, which are items that can be fundamental for this entrepreneur to stand out”, he highlighted.

Amazonas is strategic for diversifying the promotion of Brazil abroad due to the large number of nature destinations, a sector in which the country has the potential to become world leader.

According to the Embratur Data Panel, last year, Amazonas received, until October, more than 20,400 foreign tourists. Of these, just over 61% traveled for leisure. Also according to the survey, many of these tourists accessed the state via domestic connection with flights leaving from São Paulo (SP), Brasília (DF) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
