Teacher fired after having intimate photos leaked by students ended up living on the street, says defense

History teacher Bruna Flor de Macedo Barcelos reports that she was fired after lending her cell phone to students and having intimate photos leaked. The case took place at the Doutor Gerson De Faria Pereira State School, in Alto Paraíso de Goiás (GO), on the outskirts of the Federal District, in December last year. However, the story only came to light this Tuesday (26).

In an interview with Itatiaiathe teacher’s defense, represented by lawyer José Lopes, said that Bruna lent the device so that the students, aged around 12, could do work.

“As the work required a smartphone, some students did not have (the device). This group didn’t even have one. So, Bruna willingly lent them her cell phone”, explained Lopes.

On the same day, Bruna discovered that nude photos of her had spread across the internet. But, according to the lawyer, the dismissal only happened months later, in December 2023. The defense claims that Bruna was not informed of the reason for the dismissal and that she only learned the real reason in February of this year, through the administrative process.

“In the document, the director says that it was her fault (for the leak) and that she could not have lent her the cell phone. They also said that the nude photos offended the morals of the institution and the students. The director described her as a criminal”, reported the lawyer.

Teacher ended up living on the street

The defense also claims that after being fired, the teacher spent five to seven days on the street.

“She gave up the apartment because she couldn’t pay the rent. Her mother died and she is alone in the world. After being on the street, she was taken in by a religious institution. There, she met a person who offered shelter in the rural area of Alto Paraíso and today she is living there,” she said.

‘I felt violated’

The report sought out the teacher to speak out, but she preferred that the lawyer respond for her. To g1, Bruna even said that she felt violated after what happened.

“I felt violated. Afterwards, the school management created a letter saying that students felt embarrassed to attend my classes because they had seen my nude photo. A reversal of who was the victim in the situation,” she stated.

In response to the dismissal, Bruna opened a lawsuit against the state, which is being conducted under secrecy in the Goiás Court. The lawsuit seeks compensation for moral damages, but the amount of the compensation was not informed by the defense.
