Large cargo vehicles will not be able to circulate on single-lane highways, under the responsibility of the Department of Highways of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), on the 27th, 28th and 31/3, due to the Holy Week holiday. .
The restrictions will take place on the following days and times: Wednesday (27/3), from 3 pm to 10 pm; on Thursday (28/3), between 6am and 12pm, and on Sunday (31/3), from 4pm to 10pm.
The objective is to provide more safety for those who will travel along Minas Gerais highways and make traffic more fluid.
The measure, provided for in ordinance 4082/23, of 1/25/2024, applies to vehicles in the Large Category and encompasses Cargo Vehicle Combinations – CVC, Vehicle Transport Combinations – CTV and indivisible loads, among the what type are bitrens, treminhões and rodotrains.
According to the Ordinance, official escort services for oversized vehicles during the Holy Week period are also suspended, due to the fact that the Military Police of the State of Minas Gerais and DER-MG are working on other road safety actions.
If a driver is approached while traveling with vehicles prevented from circulating, the offender is subject to the penalties provided for in the Brazilian Traffic Code (art. 187-I, of Federal Law No. 9,503, of 1997), such as the loss of four points on the license, fine and retention of the vehicle until the end of the restriction period.
The Ordinance also determines the restriction of the circulation of large vehicles during the Corpus Christi holidays, Proclamation of the Republic and New Year’s Eve festivities.
