The first Salary Transparency Report published, this Monday (25), data showing that women earn 17.3% less than men in the state of Bahia. The document was presented by the Ministries of Women and Labor and Employment (MTE), with information sent by companies with 100 or more employees, a profile required by law to present data to the Federal Government.

In total, 2 thousand companies in Bahia responded to the questionnaire, which together total 743.6 thousand employees. The requirement to send data complies with Law No. 14,611, which provides for Salary Equality and Remuneration Criteria between Women and Men, sanctioned by President Lula in July 2023. The difference in pay between men and women varies according to the large group occupational. In Bahia, in positions of directors and managers, for example, it reaches 25.2%.

When breaking down by race, the report points out that the number of black women is greater than that of non-black women in the companies in the survey, with a record of 195.3 thousand and 82.4 thousand, respectively. However, the average salary for a black woman is R$2,890.51, while that of a non-black woman is R$3,300.43. In the case of men, black people, also the majority in companies, receive on average R$ 3,425.47 and non-blacks, R$ 4,131.58.

The report also contains information that indicates whether companies have effective policies to encourage the hiring of women, such as flexible working arrangements to support parenthood, among other criteria seen as encouraging women to enter, stay and gain professional advancement.

In the case of Bahia, the report recorded that 44.8% of companies have job and salary plans; 36.2% adopt policies to promote women to management and management positions; 30.4% have policies to support the hiring of women; and 25.4% adopt incentives for hiring black women.
