The Coordinator of Children and Youth of Rio Grande do Sul, magistrate judge Luís Antônio de Abreu Johnson, was at the Santa Catarina Court to learn about the Novos Caminhos Program last Friday (22/3). The magistrate was aware of the progress and challenges of the action and will implement it in the neighboring state, following the nationalization plan led by the National Council of Justice (CNJ). Server Carine Caus Caon, from the Children and Youth Coordination of that Court, was also present.
They were welcomed by judge Rosane Portella Wolff, responsible for the State Coordination of Children and Youth (CEIJ), of the TJSC, and by the assistant judge of the presidency, Maira Salete Meneghett. The two participated in the meeting alongside the Program’s technical team. By videoconference, the CNJ assistant judge, Zaira Albuquerque Cavalcante Costa, participated; Rodrigo Ourives, from Senai do RS, Sonia Elizabeth Bier, from Sesi.
“With Novos Caminhos, young people gain the possibility of dreaming,” said judge Rosane. She spoke about the evolution of the Program, highlighted the importance of a committed team, and said that the PNC fulfills a mission established in the Federal Constitution. “It’s not just about getting a job, but opening new paths”, added Judge Fernando Machado Carboni, technical cooperator at CEIJ.
The TJSC, the Association of Magistrates of Santa Catarina (AMC) and the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (FIESC) are the tripod of the Novos Caminhos Program. Andrea da Silva, from AMC, and Rosana Baron Zimmer Mendes, from FIESC, spoke about the successful trajectory of the action, its strong social impact, the importance of psychological support and the fight, during the pandemic, to give young people in foster care access to the world digital.
