Truck driver said he thought he had run over an animal and was only informed later about the accident
Walter Crivelari Guilherme, aged 62, died after being run over by a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, on the MS-080, in Rochedo, a city 83 km from Campo Grande, on Monday night (25).
The information in the police report states that the victim was heading from Rochedo to Capital when the collision occurred. A man was at the scene and introduced himself as the victim’s roommate. They lived about two kilometers from the accident and the colleague reported that Walter was an alcoholic.
Minutes later, with the police arriving, a driver arrived at the scene saying he believed he was the driver. He stated that he noticed a knock on the side of the Hilux, stopped and did not see anything unusual on the bodywork. He believed he had run over an animal and went to the hotel where he was staying. Shortly afterwards, he was informed about police activity on the highway and decided to return to report the facts.
The case was registered as “committing culpable homicide while driving a motor vehicle”.
