Aracaju expands flu vaccination; see where to get vaccinated

Aracaju expanded vaccination against influenza to the general population this Thursday, the 2nd. The goal is to immunize 232,121 people who are the target audience of the campaign in the capital.

With the expansion of the public, everyone over 6 months old can receive the vaccine.

“Vaccination aims to minimize viral load and prevent the emergence of complications resulting from the disease, reducing symptoms, in addition to reducing the burden on health services. Children who will receive the vaccine for the first time must take two doses, 30 days apart. From 9 years of age onwards, only one dose is required”, explains Larissa Ribeiro, Immunization coordinator at SMS.

Among people in the priority group, 12,563 children aged 6 months to under 5 years of age were vaccinated; 110 postpartum women; 2,088 pregnant women, and 32,542 elderly people.

Vaccination documents and points

To get vaccinated, you must bring a vaccination card, identification document and proof that you are a resident of Aracaju. The vaccine will be available at 45 UBSs, from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Among these, 20 units have extended opening hours, from 8 am to 6:30 pm, they are: Antônio Alves, Augusto Franco, Ministro Costa, Dona Sinhazinha, Ávila Nabuco, Niceu Dantas, Marx de Carvalho, Hugo Gurgel, Joaldo Barbosa, Manoel de Souza , Edézio Vieira de Melo, Cândida Alves, Dona Jovem, Francisco Fonseca, José Machado, José Calumby Filho, Oníssimo Pinto, Fernando Sampaio, Humberto Mourão and Geraldo Magela.

At the Riomar, Jardins and Aracaju Parque Shopping malls, vaccination only takes place on Saturdays, from 1pm to 6pm, remembering that at these points, vaccination is only aimed at people over 5 years of age. Schools will also vaccinate, based on a schedule, parental authorization, vaccination card and identification document, with a schedule and time published weekly.
