ANVISA has just issued an order against a beloved brand of seasoning and another favorite product for women over 50
And the ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency) just dropped 2 bansone of which affected a popular seasoning, present in most Brazilian homes and in countless sweet and savory recipes.
The other hit home with a product seen as one of the most “favorite” among people over 50, as it contributes to the vitamin maintenance of the body.
1- Cinnamon powder
On April 23, 2024, ANVISA through RESOLUTION-RE No. 1,550, duly published in the Official Diary of the Union on April 24th, it hastily suspended the sale of the product Bretas Ground Cinnamonproduced by GSA Range Juices and Foods.

This measure was motivated considering that the commercialization of such supplements could present risks, since their advertising had unacceptable claims and also with unproven effectiveness.
According to the resolution, the mentioned product promised:
- Glucose regulation;
- Improvement of hearing and vision problems;
- Improves memory and brain activity;
- Helps with metabolism;
- Weight loss;
- Weight loss;
- Sexual stimulant;
- Hormonal balance;
- etc.
When clicking on the brand’s official website, mentioned by ANVISA itself, it was not found, as you can see in the image below:
Although the company responsible for producing the product was not identified, when searching for statements or notes by the name of Nutricaps, they were not found.

What are the risks of consuming irregular dietary supplements?
According to the director of ANVISAalthough these products are well wanted, dietary supplements cannot claim properties or therapeutic indications:
“Advertisements and labels that indicate foods for preventing or treating diseases or symptoms, losing weight, reducing fat, gaining muscle mass, accelerating metabolism or improving sexual performance are illegal and may contain substances that are unsafe for consumption”,
As explained by the portal Drauziothe consumption of these types of irregular supplements, in addition to not having adequate proof of effectiveness, may present risks of:
- Liver diseases;
- Heart diseases;
- Cancer;
All of these problems, when aggravated, in the long or short term, can cause death., thus posing a fatal risk.
