Uri debated the Medicine Course project at the AMM Assembly

At a meeting of the Association of Municipalities of Missões (AMM), based in Mato Queimado, URI Santo Ângelo presented a project for the creation of a Medicine course.

The proposal was detailed in the first assembly led by Sidney Brondani, mayor of São Luiz Gonzaga and new president of AMM.

The event, which took place on Friday the 19th, was represented by URI, including the General Director Berenice Wbatuba, the Academic Director Carlos Lemos, and the coordinator of the Nursing course, Francisco Rodrigues.

During the assembly, URI presented an ambitious proposal: the implementation of a Medicine course aimed at the Missions Region, based on a recent notice from the Ministry of Education.

This pedagogical project aims not only to expand the higher educational offer in the health area, but also to strengthen basic health care for the local population, integrating with the Mais Médicos program.

The General Director of URI, Berenice Wbatuba, highlighted the institution’s trajectory of more than half a century in higher education, highlighting the diversity of courses in the area of Health offered by the university and the relevance of establishing a Medicine course in the region.

According to Berenice, such an initiative would directly benefit the basic health of missionary communities, in addition to reinforcing the role of URI as an educational and regional development pillar.

The president of AMM, Sidney Brondoni, expressed enthusiasm for the project and assured the association’s full support for the URI initiative. Brondoni recognized the continuous effort of his predecessor, Auri Kochhann, in promoting discussions aimed at educational development and improving the quality of life in the Missions region.

URI’s proposal to implement a Medicine course in the Missões Region appears as a potential milestone for the advancement of higher education and public health in the area.

With the support of AMM and collaboration between local city halls and the educational institution, the project promises to bring significant benefits to the community, aligning with the needs and desires of the region’s inhabitants.

The initiative is still in the planning and discussion phase, but it already arouses great expectations among those involved and the local population, eager to see the positive results that a Medicine course can bring to the Missions Region.
