CPI on results manipulation starts this month; Textor will be heard
A CPI for match-fixing in football matches It already has a start date. Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSD-GO) announced the start of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, which is investigating the manipulation of 109 matches played last season, starting this month. Owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor, who made serious accusations about possible irregularities in Brazilian football, will be one of the first to be heard.
“John Textor was summoned by the STJD, and he will be convicted, will be suspended for at least 120 days, in which he will have to leave Brazil, not sign anything for Botafogo and will not be able to compete at the stadiums, if he does not present what he has . So, he will be the first to be called upon to explain himself”, said Kajuru.

The politician also highlighted that the CPI handles results and punishments for cases of manipulation in the sporting field. Last Monday (01), John Textor stated, in an interview with “Canal do Medeiros” on YouTube, that he has evidence of manipulations in matches played by Palmeiras, Brazilian champion in the last edition of the national league, against São Paulo and Fortaleza.
A CPI evaluates the manipulation of results in 109 football matches played in Brazil in 2023. Among these, only 22 are organized by the CBF, and none were valid for Series A.
Textor will be judged at the STJD, for not presenting the body with evidence of arbitration manipulation in Brazilian football, on April 15th.
