Forbes list of new billionaires has a single sportsman; see who it is

The magazine Forbes released this Tuesday, 2, the list of billionaires in the world. In the report, the names of personalities from the technology field appear, such as Mark Zuckerberg It is Elon Musk – stickers already stamped -, and celebrities, like the singer Taylor Swiftwhich debuts in the survey.

Another newcomer to the ranking is Earvin Johnson, known as Magic Johnsonformer star of NBA. Magic is currently a businessman and sports commentator, and has an estimated fortune of US$1.2 billion, around R$6 billion at current prices.

The publication highlights that the former basketball player was able to increase his income after retirement with “intelligent business deals and participation in several sports teams”. Currently, the former athlete has investments in real estate, coffee shops, cinema, healthcare and is a partner in the Los Angeles Dodgers, a baseball team in the United States, in addition to being co-owner of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, since July 2023.

Magic Johnson is considered a legend of the Los Angeles Lakers. Over 14 seasons, the former player won the NBA title with the team five times, and was named the tournament’s best athlete in three editions. The team even decided to retire the number 32 shirt, which he wore, in honor of the former athlete. Furthermore, Magic became part of the NBA Hall of Fame in 2002.

Magic Johnson is the fourth sports personality to join the North American magazine’s list. Previously, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and LeBron James were also in the rankings.
