We have a date for the merger of Star+ as Disney+ in Brazil. All content from the first platform, including the ESPNwill be added on Monday June 26th.

With this new integrated experience, different subscription alternatives will be provided. Starting June 26, consumers will be able to choose between three Disney+ subscription plans: Premium, Standard and Standard with Ads. The latter will initially only be available in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia, to be integrated into commercial partner packages.

After this day, Star+ will no longer exist independently.

Exact prices and values ​​have not been disclosed.

This is a global movement. Last Wednesday (27), the Hulu was integrated into Disney+ in the United States and Mickey’s streaming got a new logo, with a color scheme that the company called “Aurora”, in reference to the princess of Sleeping Beauty and the aurora borealis. Unlike Star+, however, it is still possible to subscribe to Hulu separately.

Currently, it is possible to subscribe to Disney+ and Star+ separately for, respectively, R$ 33.90 It is R$ 40.90. There is also the option of Combo+, which combines the two apps for R$ 55.90 and can be the best clue to future price. It is also possible to purchase apps through promotions with partners such as Globoplay It is Free market. It’s too early to say how the merger will affect these offerings.

Launched a few months after Disney+ in Brazil, Star+ includes the Disney group’s most adult content, such as FX series (The Bear, Atlanta), films from 20th Century Studios (Deadpool, Logan) and original productions from Hulu (Only Murders in the Building), the North American equivalent of the app. In addition, Star+ receives content from ESPNincluding sports programs and live broadcasts from various football leagues, such as LaLiga, Libertadores It is Premier Leagueand modalities such as NBA, NFL, MLB and tennis.

From 2024, all of this will go to Disney+, which has already been receiving some simultaneous releases with Star+. This already happened with the miniseries A Small Light and was applied again with overproduction Shogun: The Glorious Saga of Japanwhich debuted in February 2024. A merger between the two services has been speculated for months, and now it will happen definitively. In the US, a merger between Disney+ and Hulu has already been implemented, but there, it is still possible to subscribe to Hulu separately.
