Strengthening strategic health actions, Arapongas City Hall promoted oral health “D” Day actions in municipal schools last Wednesday, 8th. The activities also refer to Law No. 14,572, of May 8, 2023 – which established the National Oral Health Policy within the scope of the SUS. Throughout the day, oral health teams from the Basic Health Units (UBS’) and community health agents (CHA’s) toured the educational institutions providing guidance, supervised brushing, delivery of hygiene kits and dental care to elementary school students. . The Secretary of Health, Moacir Paludetto Jr, reaffirms that the strategies bring the community closer to primary health services. “It is a way of bringing health into schools, encouraging and guiding students about oral health care, so that they grow with healthy teeth. In addition to being attentive to the needs of each student”, he highlighted. The activities are also part of the “More Oral Health” action of the Health at School (PSE) program. The following were also carried out: epidemiological surveys of oral problems, topical application of fluoride in the indicated cases (planning-prevention station) and carrying out Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) (recovery station); in cases with indication and referral for dental treatment at UBS’s.

Atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) is a technique based on the concept of minimal intervention and maximum preservation of dental structures. It is based on non-invasive, atraumatic procedures, where only dental curettes are used to remove decayed tissue.
