Citizen of Amazonas, prosecutor Igor Starling declares love for the State in Aleam

The honoree’s trajectory is marked by solid performance in the democratic process and by the coordination of Gaeco and Caocrimo of MPAM

Prosecutor Igor Starling Peixoto, coordinator of the Operational Support Center for Criminal Prosecutors (Caocrimo) and the Special Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM), received, this Thursday morning, 09/05, the title of Citizen of Amazonas in the State Legislative Assembly (Aleam), in a ceremony presided over by state deputy Adjuto Afonso (União Brasil) and held in the Ruy Araújo plenary. The honor is awarded to people who, even though they were not born in the State, provided or are providing relevant services to the population of Amazonas.

The tribute was proposed by state deputy Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) and unanimously approved through Bill No. 677/2023.

Present at the ceremony, the Attorney General of the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) Alberto Rodrigues do Nascimento Júnior said that the tribute was a recognition granted to a “legitimate Amazonian”. “Today, we have several colleagues who enter Amazonas professionally from other states. In the specific case of Dr. Igor, he even started a family, with a wife and children. Therefore, it is only fair that the Legislative Assembly and the State of Amazonas have granted this honor to a member of the Public Ministry who has done the best in his daily life for society, MPAM and Amazonas. It is certainly a day of great joy for the institution,” he said.

Upon receiving honor during the Special Session, prosecutor Igor Starling Peixoto, who holds one of the most important investigative positions in Amazonas, assessed that the title received by Aleam is an extremely important recognition, both personally and professionally. “This title has great relevance for me and also highlights the role of MPAM itself in defending fundamental rights. Personally, as a citizen who came to Amazonas and fell in love with the State, this is something very gratifying. It’s my land, my family’s, wife and children’s land”, declared the prosecutor, emotionally.

Biography of Igor Starling

Born in Brasília, Igor Starling Peixoto is married to the judge of the Court of Justice of the State of Amazonas, Maria da Graça Giulietta Cardoso de Carvalho Starling, and has two sons: Igor and Hugo. He took the exam in 2007, being sworn in in 2009.

He took over as head of the District of Carauari, later removed to Boa Vista do Ramos, Codajás and Presidente Figueiredo. He worked, by appointment, in several municipalities in the interior, including Coari, Urucará, Juruá, Parintins, among others.

Igor Starling was an electoral promoter for years, contributing to the legitimate democratic process.

In 2019, he was removed to the capital and assumed the 25th Public Prosecutor’s Office, working in the Military Audit. In 2020, he held the position of coordinator of Caocrimo, an opportunity in which he worked, at the height of the pandemic, supporting criminal prosecutors. Since February 2022, he has been responsible for coordinating Caocrimo, a structure of utmost importance in the fight against criminal factions and to which Gaeco is linked. This year, he was appointed to serve as secretary general of the National Group to Combat Criminal Organizations (GNCOC).
