This week, a controversial speech by the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), was said in the soap opera ‘No Rancho Fundo’, by TV Globo. On the occasion, the character Sabá Bodó, played by actor Welder Rodrigues, recalled one of the politician’s phrases when faced with a request for help from Juquinha (Tomás de França).

At the scene, Juquinha asked: “I came to ask permission for my late Uncle Tenório to enter,” he said, referring to a scarecrow that had been on the Leonel plantations for years.

Sabá Bodó replied: “So what? I’m not a gravedigger”, said the politician. “It’s to be buried in the backyard,” explained the young man. “That it? It is to be buried in Campo Santo, not at home”, stated Nivalda (Titina Medeiros).

The phrase “I’m not a gravedigger” was said by Bolsonaro in May 2020, when he was asked by journalists about the number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic.
