PMSC helicopter flies over flooded area in RS to rescue victims on roof
With a helicopter and boat, 670 people and 80 animals were rescued in Rio Grande do Sul by the Military Police of Santa Catarina, the corporation announced on Sunday afternoon (5). The Santa Catarina team continues in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Rio Grande do Sul suffers from storms. More than 70 people died, more than 100 are missing and more than 150 were injured. Furthermore, more than 100,000 people had to leave their homes.
The first team from the Santa Catarina PM was sent to the state of Rio Grande do Sul on Wednesday (1st), with the Aviation Battalion. Then, a team from the Environmental Military Police was sent to the Porto Alegre region late Friday afternoon (3) with a car and a boat.
In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, police officers help rescue people and pets, in conjunction with the local Civil Defense.
More than 500 stranded people are rescued by firefighters from SC in RS
In addition to the PM, the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department also provides support to Rio Grande do Sul. At least 516 people and 84 stranded animals have been rescued by the corporation since Wednesday (1st). The numbers were released by the firefighters themselves on Saturday (4).
Most of those rescued, according to firefighters, were waiting for help on roofs and even trees.
In total, 32 military firefighters from Santa Catarina operate in different regions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul with 10 4×4 vehicles, 11 boats and equipment for rescues in landslides.
Due to the seriousness of the situation in Greater Porto Alegre, firefighters from Santa Catarina must travel to this region.
