The Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) participated, this Tuesday, 26/03, in the special session in honor of the 1st year of activity of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women held at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (ALEAM). On the occasion, the MPAM, represented by the Ombudsman General, Attorney Jussara Maria Pordeus e Silva, who heads the MPAM Women’s Ombudsman’s Office, was honored for her active contribution to the defense of women’s rights.

It is very important for our State that there is this specialized effort to promote the defense of rights and the fight against violence against women. The work of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women is essential to ensure that the specific demands and needs of this public are met adequately and effectively.”, stated the Ombudsman General.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women was created through Legislative Resolution No. 960/2022 and aims to be an instrument of organization, participation and struggle for women, for the construction of actions and paths that contribute to combating gender inequalities, violence and discrimination against women, among other points. Among the services offered by the Prosecutor’s Office are social services, psychological assistance, legal assistance and police procedures.

During the ceremony, the representatives of the State of Amazonas, Alessandra Campêlo and Débora Menezes, were present at the table; the Inspector of the Amazonas State Attorney’s Office, Clara Maria Lindoso e Lima – representing the State Governor, Wilson Lima; Judge Mirza Telma de Oliveira Cunha – representing the Court of Justice of the State of Amazonas; the Law Judge, Eline Paixão and Silva Gurgel; the Public Defender of the State of Amazonas, Carolina Matos; the Superintendent of the Federal Police of Amazonas, Umberto Ramos Rodrigues; the Secretary of State for Social Assistance, Kely Patrícia Paixão Silva; the General Delegate of the Civil Police of Amazonas, Bruno de Paula Fraga; the Communications Director of the Women’s Commission and lawyer at OAB Amazonas, Sâmia Brena Furtado; and the President of the Association of Women in Legal Careers in Amazonas, Lúcia Maria Cordeiro Viana.
