Victims lived in the municipalities of Campo Grande, Mundo Novo, Ribas do Rio Pardo, Taquarussu and Vicentina
Five more patients died from complications from Covid-19 in Mato Grosso do Sul during the last week, according to the SES (State Department of Health) in an epidemiological bulletin released late this Tuesday afternoon (26). The deaths, however, were confirmed between March 10th and 22nd.
Of the total number of deaths, four were men and one was a woman. The victims, who were aged between 60 and 80 years old, lived in the municipalities of Campo Grande, Mundo Novo, Ribas do Rio Pardo, Taquarussu and Vicentina.
According to the document, most had comorbidities, such as chronic cardiovascular disease, hypertension and immunosuppression.
Overall, Covid-19 was responsible for the deaths of 54 people throughout 2024. Regarding confirmed cases, the state had 7,704 positive diagnoses for the respiratory disease in the 12-week period.
The Health survey reveals that the State has 79.8% vaccination coverage, slightly below the national average, which is 84%. The numbers consolidate the importance of the vaccine to prevent serious forms of the disease. Last year, for example, there were 220 deaths; the previous year, there were 1,206.
