The Polo maintained its leadership in the ranking of the best-selling cars in Brazil. In April, the Volkswagen hatchback had 12,434 registrations and, for the second consecutive month, surpassed the Fiat Strada, which had been defending its position for some time.

Last month, the compact pickup made in Minas Gerais had 11,497 sales. Then comes the Chevrolet Onix, with 9,087 registrations. Up to fourth place, the Fiat Argo (8,599 units), April’s ranking appears to be a copy of March’s.

The list starts to change in fifth place, which was taken by the Hyundai HB20 after surpassing the Volkswagen T-Cross. Check out the list on the right.

According to data from Fenabrave, a federation that brings together dealership associations, car and light commercial vehicle registrations in April registered an increase of 18.2% compared to March. The explanation for this has to do with the greater number of working days – 22 in April and 20 in March.

Furthermore, according to Fenabrave, there was a good performance in retail sales. From March to April, the daily average of registrations in the country grew 7.5%, exceeding 9,400 units.

Electrified cars

Last month, registrations of electrified vehicles, which include electric and hybrid vehicles, also did well. According to Fenabrave, 6,705 units were registered.

And the best seller was a 100% electric, battery-powered model. This is the BYD Dolphin Mini, which had 3,143 registrations in April. Thus, it even surpassed established models, such as the Toyota Corolla, for example, which had 3,104 sales in the same period.

BYD sticks to Honda and Nissan

Between January and April, 20,832 electrified vehicles were sold in Brazil. “The growth (in sales) of pure electric vehicles tends to be more gradual, but has been consolidating little by little, especially in large urban centers”, says the president of Fenabrave, Andreta Jr.

By brand, the leader is Fiat, with a 20.77% share. With 15.95%, Volkswagen came in second place, followed by GM (12.55%), Toyota (8.58%), Hyundai (7.65%), Renault (5.58%), Jeep (5 .07%), Nissan (3.85%) and Honda (3.5%). BYD closes the list of the top ten, with 3.18%.
