“It’s something questionable. If you require a selection process for everyone who qualifies to be a counselor, even the vice-presidents of Banco do Brasil go through this, why do you release Previ’s directors from the selection process?”, he asked.

“In the past, there was a three-step process: professional experience, training and being trained in related areas. This was true for everyone,” he said. “If you look at the nominees for the councils, you will see that there are a lot of people affiliated with unions. We are going back to 2003, when there was this movement, to put people linked to unions,” he said.

Of the six Previ directors, two arrived with the Lula government —Fukunaga and Cláudio Gonçalves—appointed by BB. Of the others, one has been there since 2020 (Wagner de Sousa) and the others since 2022, when they joined some councils under the previous rules.

To join Previ’s management, three are nominated by BB and three are elected by members.
